Features

The recent increase in the prevalence of design and build jobs has led to building and engineering contractors becoming increasingly exposed to design liability. This is often because they have in-house design services or because they subcontract out the design element of a project but still have contingent exposure.

This type of professional indemnity insurance is intended for designers, consultants and subcontractors involved in all different aspects of designing and constructing a project. It is more and more common for clients to insist that everyone involved in a contract carry their own insurance cover, even if a contractor is doing little or no design work.

To obtain a quote for any of our design or construction insurance policies, you must submit a completed proposal form. Please download the form and submit to us and one of our experienced team members will be in touch.

  • Top Tip #1

Check the design, make sure it works. Failure to do so could lead to problems.

  • Top Tip #2

Even if a contractor has no design or professional supervisory responsibility, they may have a duty to warn the client if they become aware of a design defect.
